Origins Clearwater Genetics, a craft breeder based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, developed Apple Tartz by crossing Runtz with Apple Fritter. Its Runtz parent originated with California’s Runtz Crew and became widely known through Berner’s Cookies brand.
