Blue Velvet
Blue Velvet is a 1990s hybrid developed through a collaboration between breeder DJ Short and Dutch Passion, recognized for its dark, resinous flowers and balanced effects.
About Blue Velvet
Originating in the 1990s, Blue Velvet is the result of a partnership between DJ Short and the Amsterdam-based genetics house Dutch Passion. While the strain is occasionally referred to as Blueberry Thai and is frequently associated with the history of the Blueberry breeding project, its documented genetic lineage is a cross between Afghan indica and Purple Thai. Despite the lack of direct Blueberry genetics in its official pedigree, some accounts suggest it originated from the original seed stock of the 1990s Blueberry project. The strain is noted for its heavy resin production. Users describe the aroma as a blend of floral and fruity notes, while the reported effects are characterized as a balance between cerebral stimulation and physical relaxation.
Plant characteristics
The plant exhibits a sturdy structure with strong branching, a trait attributed to its landrace ancestry. Its appearance is defined by exceptionally dark, nearly black foliage contrasted by bright orange pistils. The plants are known to grow quite tall, particularly when cultivated outdoors.
