Captain Jack

indica
AliasCaptain Jack'sCaptain Jack's Gulzar Afghanica

The name Captain Jack refers to two genetically distinct strains: a rare, pure landrace indica with historical ties to the 1970s New York comedy scene, and a modern balanced hybrid cross.

About Captain Jack

The original Captain Jack's, or Captain Jack's Gulzar Afghanica, is a rare landrace indica brought to the United States in the early 1970s. Captain Jack maintained this lineage for over 40 years through meticulous selection, keeping the genetics pure without the use of crosses or cloning. Known as "Herowanna," the strain is historically associated with the New York City comedy scene of the 1970s and 1980s, often referred to as "the smell of SNL." It is currently a subbrand of Belushi Farms but remains uncommon and difficult to source.

A second, unrelated strain also bears the name Captain Jack. This version is a balanced hybrid thought to be bred by Sensi Seeds, resulting from a three-way cross of Jack Herer, Chemo, and William's Wonder. This hybrid offers a profile of sweet and sour pine with notes of earth, citrus, and sugar, and is reported to provide a balanced experience of euphoria and relaxation.

Plant characteristics

The hybrid version of Captain Jack is characterized by dark green nugs.
