About Gastro Pop

Gastro Pop is an indica-leaning hybrid created by Compound Genetics through a cross of Apples & Bananas and Grape Gas. Developed during Chris Lynch’s tenure at Compound, the project resulted in several distinct phenotypes, most notably the #5 and #28 selections. These numbers denote specific individual plants rather than unique genetic crosses, meaning each selection offers a different expression of the original pairing. The flavor profile is defined by prominent grape sweetness, layered with notes of sour berries, tart apple, and floral undertones, often finishing with a sharp, hashy, or gassy exhale. Users report that the experience typically begins with a sociable, euphoric lift before transitioning into deep relaxation, often accompanied by a significant increase in appetite and eventual sleepiness.

Plant characteristics

The flowers of Gastro Pop typically display a mix of purple and green hues, accented by orange pistils and a dense coating of white trichomes. Bud size and shape can vary significantly between different phenotypes. The plant is known for a well-branched structure and medium-to-high yield potential. For the #5 selection specifically, indoor flowering is estimated at 60–65 days, with outdoor harvests occurring around mid-October in the Northern Hemisphere. It is important to note that these metrics are specific to the #5 cut, and other selections may exhibit different growth characteristics. Additionally, Compound has released Gastro Pop S1 seeds, which produce phenotypic variation rather than identical replicas of the selected mother.
