Indigo
Indigo refers to two distinct cannabis cultivars: a modern indica-leaning hybrid from a collaboration between Cresco and Purple City Genetics, and an older, pure indica variety derived from landrace genetics.
About Indigo
The more widely recognized version of Indigo is an indica-leaning hybrid bred by Chicago’s Cresco and Oakland’s Purple City Genetics. This cultivar is a cross of Blue Limonene and Molotov Cocktail. Consumers report a creamy citrus palate and effects that lean toward physical relaxation, accompanied by a sense of euphoria and renewed creativity.
An older, more exotic variety of Indigo is a pure indica reportedly developed from North African and Afghani landrace stock. This version is often noted for its moderate potency, serving as an accessible entry point for those new to indica strains.
Plant characteristics
The Cresco and Purple City Genetics version of Indigo features delicate, frosty foliage, a heavy coating of trichomes, and bright orange pistils. The older, landrace-derived variety typically displays dark purple streaks and leafy foliage, accompanied by a woody aroma of herbs and spices.
