About Jesus OG
Also known as Jesus OG Kush, this strain was developed by the West Coast seed bank TGA Genetics during an attempt to create a Sour Kush variant. The goal was to pair a classic Kush flavor with fruity, lemon-forward undertones. TGA co-founder Subcool stated the recipe was perfected in 2007 by pollinating a clone-only Hell’s OG female, held by Norstar Genetics, with a Jack the Ripper male. The strain has since been used in further breeding, notably by Jinxproof to create the 2017 cannabis cup-winning 9lb Hammer. Users report an intoxicating yet thought-provoking experience that provides mental clarity, sharpens focus, and helps alleviate physical tension.
Plant characteristics
Jesus OG presents two primary phenotypes: a limonene-dominant expression reflecting the citrus characteristics of its Northern Lights #5 ancestry, and a pinene-dominant expression favoring its Kush-heavy genetics. The high-limonene phenotype is considered the more commercial of the two. Plants grow tall and are capable of producing massive yields, particularly when grown outdoors. The flowers are dense with waxy, trichome-riddled surfaces, bright green leaves, and prominent orange hair clusters.
