Mazar I Sharif

indica

Mazar I Sharif is a landrace indica cultivar originating from Northern Afghanistan, known for its potent sedative effects and a complex aromatic profile.

About Mazar I Sharif

Mazar I Sharif is a landrace cannabis cultivar named for the city in Northern Afghanistan where it reportedly originated and continues to be grown. Although classified as a 100% indica, the plant exhibits an unusual stature, capable of reaching heights of up to 400 centimeters (over 13 feet) with lanky limbs—a growth pattern more commonly associated with landrace sativa genetics. Often referred to as "Mazar" or "Sharif" by breeders, the strain is available through multiple seed banks. Its aromatic profile features subtle notes of alpha-pinene and caryophyllene, creating a mild, deceptive pepper scent that masks its reported sedative potency. Consumer accounts describe an experience that often begins with a period of mental focus before transitioning into deep physical relaxation. The strain also carries diesel and lavender aromatics and was awarded the Silver Medal for Best Indica at the 1999 Cannabis Cup.
