About Mendocino Purps

Mendocino Purps, also known as The Purps or Mendo Purps, is a legacy cultivar originating from Mendocino County. Originally circulated as a clone-only cut with no definitively documented parentage, the genetics were later stabilized into a seed line by BC Bud Depot, which released its version as The Purps, identified as a Mendo Purps Inbred Line (IBL). The strain gained significant national recognition after being named one of High Times' Top Ten Strains of the Year in 2007.

The cultivar is noted for an aromatic profile that balances notes of ripe grape and berries with earthy, woody, and pine-like undertones. Some variations are reported to exhibit hints of caramel and coffee, providing a roasted depth to the fruit-forward scent. Users typically describe the experience as beginning with an initial period of uplift and mental clarity, which gradually transitions into a more pronounced physical relaxation as the session progresses.

Plant characteristics

The plant features green leaves and buds that transition into deep purple hues as it reaches maturity. When grown outdoors, the plant can reach heights of up to seven feet, with a harvest window typically occurring in late September. Indoor flowering cycles are relatively short, generally spanning seven to eight weeks.
