About Northern Lights #5
First appearing in the early 1990s, Northern Lights #5—also known as CI #5 F1—is a strain with a debated genetic history. While it is widely considered to be a descendant of an Afghani landrace indica, some accounts suggest the presence of Thai sativa genetics within its lineage. The strain is noted for a complex aromatic profile characterized by sweet, pungent earthiness accented by hints of fruity citrus. On the palate, these notes shift toward a tropical sweetness underscored by a subtle herbal musk. Northern Lights #5 has achieved significant recognition in the cannabis community, having secured numerous competition awards throughout its history. Users report a progression from happy relaxation into sleepy contentment, making it a common choice for evening use.
