Power Plant
Power Plant is a classic Dutch sativa developed by Dutch Passion in the 1990s, recognized for its South African genetic roots and its enduring influence on the Netherlands coffeeshop scene.
About Power Plant
Released in 1997, Power Plant was developed by Dutch Passion during the early 1990s with a focus on preserving its South African sativa foundation rather than incorporating unrelated hybrid genetics. It became a defining variety of the Dutch coffeeshop era, known for its sharp, energetic profile. The aroma and flavor are distinctly old-school, characterized by pungent herbs, dry wood, peppery spice, and pine, with subtle notes of citrus, flowers, and occasional sweetness. Users typically report a rapid-onset cerebral high marked by euphoria, social energy, and creativity, generally avoiding heavy physical sedation. The strain has earned recognition through several awards, including 1st place in the 2008/2009 High Life Cups, 2nd place in 2006 and 2011, and 3rd place in the 2007 High Life Cup.
Plant characteristics
The plants exhibit vigorous sativa growth patterns, producing long, resinous colas that can reach lengths exceeding 30 centimeters. The buds are typically bright green, accented by rusty orange pistils and a dense coating of resin.
