Punto Rojo
Punto Rojo is a Colombian landrace sativa defined by its diverse regional expressions and complex incense-forward profile, rather than a singular genetic lineage.
About Punto Rojo
Punto Rojo is a landrace sativa originating from Colombia, maintained through regional seed populations rather than a documented cross of two specific parents. Because it is a landrace, it represents a collection of regional genetics rather than the result of a singular breeding program. The Landrace Team preserves stock from the Tierradentro region through open pollination, while Cannabiogen’s release combines northern and central Colombian selections. Other breeders, including Hyp3rids and Hippie Cannabis Genetics, have released their own specific selections, resulting in a wide range of aromatic and structural variations.
The flavor and aroma profile is generally characterized by incense, fruit, pine, lime, pepper, and wood. Specific selections, such as Hyp3rids’ P3 C-Line, may introduce savory, floral, or fuel-like notes. Reported experiences suggest a lively, euphoric, and sometimes trippy head high, occasionally accompanied by hunger or mild physical heaviness. These effects can vary significantly between different selections, and independent feedback remains limited.
Plant characteristics
Punto Rojo plants typically exhibit narrow leaves, extensive branching, and loose flower structures. In native outdoor conditions, plants can reach heights of 2–3 meters. Coloration is diverse, with green, purple, pink, and reddish expressions occurring across documented lines. Flowering times are notably long: The Landrace Team reports 12–16 weeks, Cannabiogen reports 16–22 weeks, and Hippie Cannabis Genetics’ selection requires over 20 weeks. Hyp3rids’ P3 C-Line is noted for a more compact structure and a slightly shorter, though still extended, flowering cycle. Cannabiogen has noted that their initial release could produce some intersex plants.
