The more prevalent version was bred by Seed Junky Genetics and distributed by MSO Cookies; it is a cross between Otter Pop and Jealousy F2. This cultivar is characterized by a diesel-forward flavor profile that finishes with notes of sweet grape. Users report that the effects are physically heavy, often leading to rapid sedation, which makes it a common choice for evening use. A second, less common version of Quicksand was bred by Aqualung Gardens. This iteration is a cross between It's Fire and the CBD-rich Witches Brew, resulting in a type II chemotype that offers a more balanced ratio of CBD to THC.

The Seed Junky Genetics version of Quicksand produces dense, green flowers featuring dark undertones and thin, orange pistils. The aromatic profile is defined by floral earthiness and grapes, which transitions into a diesel scent.
