Sour Apple is a hybrid strain originally bred by Top Shelf Seeds by crossing an original Sour Diesel clone with a Cinderella 99 male. It is primarily distinguished by an aromatic fusion of caramelized apples and diesel fuel, with a flavor profile described as sweet and skunky.
While the original cut was reportedly only available as a clone, various seed banks have released their own interpretations of the strain. Notably, the Los Angeles-based collective Jungle Boys maintains their own cultivar of Sour Apple. Regarding its effects, users frequently report an energetic and euphoric experience consistent with sativa-leaning varieties, though there is ongoing debate among sources regarding whether the strain is indica or sativa dominant.
Plant characteristics
Due to its Diesel lineage, the plant is known to stretch significantly in height, often requiring pruning to manage its size. When grown indoors, it is reported to perform well with Screen of Green (ScrOG) or Sea of Green (SOG) techniques. The plant produces dense colas coated in milky white resin. Once cured, the buds exhibit a bright green color.
