About Sputnik
Named for the Soviet satellite that launched the space age, Sputnik is a cross of Apollo 13 and Black Russian. The cultivar offers a bouquet characterized by sweetness, floral and herbal notes, and hints of ripe fruit. On the palate, it presents as floral tea and herbs, with a honeyed sweetness that balances out any sour undertones. Users report an initial chatty, uplifted headspace that eventually settles into a state of relaxed contentment.
Plant characteristics
This sativa-leaning hybrid reaches a medium height. When grown indoors, it reaches maturity in approximately 63 days, while outdoor harvests typically occur in early October. The plant responds well to the Sea of Green (SOG) method to encourage cola development and improve yields. Maintaining proper airflow and light circulation to the lower branches is recommended to mitigate the risk of mold and mildew.
