Banana Kush

Banana Kush is a California-born hybrid celebrated for its distinct tropical aroma and a profile that blends classic OG funk with sweet, creamy banana notes.

About Banana Kush

Banana Kush is a name applied to multiple distinct lineages that have circulated throughout California, sharing a common emphasis on OG-style structure and a signature banana-like sweetness. Because the name has been used by different breeders, the genetic history is not singular.

One prominent version, associated with Crockett Family Farms, originated from a cross of Ghost OG and Skunk Haze. Crockett initially named this cultivar Banana due to its aromatic profile, later rebranding it as Private Reserve once it became clear the Banana name was already in use. Despite the name change, the original moniker persisted, and this specific selection became a significant piece of breeding stock.

Another interpretation comes from Cali Kush, which claims a lineage derived from OG Kush crossed with a male plant simply referred to as Banana. This iteration is credited with establishing the profile characterized by a creamy, sweet banana scent layered over traditional OG funk.

Users report that the experience typically begins with a sense of euphoric creativity, which gradually transitions into a state of deep relaxation and, eventually, sleepy contentment.

Plant characteristics

The flowers are generally dense and resinous, featuring green buds accented by orange pistils. The plant produces a significant layer of trichomes, reflecting its OG heritage, while the aromatic profile is dominated by notes of ripe banana, tropical fruit, cream, earth, and wood, finishing with a hint of peppery spice.
