Burnt Orange
Burnt Orange is a 2013 hybrid developed by Archive Seed Bank, recognized for its sharp, astringent citrus profile and its historical role in influencing the modern Tangie lineage.
About Burnt Orange
Released in 2013 by Archive Seed Bank, Burnt Orange was created by breeders SubCool and Jill. The process involved backcrossing Orange Velvet—sourced from Oregon—with itself to isolate a distinct, astringent aroma reminiscent of orange-scented cleaning products. This resulting Orange Velvet BX1 was then crossed with Do-Si-Dos to produce Burnt Orange.
The strain is noted for producing highly resinous flowers with a crystalline structure, making it a preferred choice for hash and extract production. Burnt Orange is frequently cited as a foundational influence on the broader Tangie movement, with its genetic footprint appearing in various descendants and related crosses such as Sour Tangie and Tangie Cookies. Consumers report the experience as intensely focused and creatively euphoric, characterized by sharp citrus notes and earthy undertones.
