Mendo Kush
Mendo Kush, also known as Mendocino Kush, is a hybrid strain with two distinct, competing genetic histories: one documented by Guru Seeds and another consisting of uncredited Kush-family genetics.
About Mendo Kush
Mendo Kush represents a complex naming convention, as the label is applied to two distinct genetic lineages. The first, and most well-documented, was selected by Guru Seeds through a cross of Mendocino Purps and Purple Kush. This version is characterized by an aromatic profile of earth and ripe berries, transitioning into citrus and a sweet vanilla-caramel finish. Users often report effects that are creative, giggly, and energetic.
In contrast, the second version of Mendo Kush lacks a verified breeder or specific parentage, attributed only to a mix of unnamed Kush-family strains. This iteration is reported to be more physically sedative, beginning with a euphoric onset that leads into a heavy body high and eventual sleepiness. Its aroma is described as pungent and earthy, featuring notes of skunk, lemony pine, and sweet berry. It is important to distinguish these versions from Mendocino Purple Kush by Medical Seeds, which is a separate cultivar despite the similar nomenclature. High Times named Mendo Kush a Top Ten Strain in 2007.
Plant characteristics
The uncredited Kush-family version produces small, rounded forest-green buds accented by amber hairs and a dense coating of white trichomes. The Guru Seeds selection typically presents as denser and darker, often displaying purple streaks throughout the foliage.
