About P-91

P-91 is a storied San Diego cultivar that emerged from the Poway area in 1991. Its genetic history is subject to two competing theories. One suggests it is a triple-backcrossed Northern Lights (NL x NL x NL), emphasizing Afghan-leaning indica characteristics. The alternative theory proposes a cross between Skunk #1 and Thai, which accounts for the citrus, spice, and cerebral qualities often noted by users. Regardless of its exact lineage, the strain gained significant traction across Southern California in the early 2000s for its dense, trichome-glazed flowers and balanced high.

In recent years, the producer Phat Panda brought the strain back to the commercial market under the name "Fuck Yeah." While Phat Panda did not breed the original P-91, they have maintained the legacy genetics. The profile is characterized by an aroma of earth, spice, and citrus peel, driven by a terpene profile dominated by myrcene, with supporting notes of limonene and caryophyllene. Users typically report an immediate, upbeat cerebral rush that eventually transitions into a steady, calming physical state.

Plant characteristics

P-91 is a sativa-leaning hybrid that features dark green foliage and sturdy stalks. It exhibits wide internodal spacing and can reach heights of up to seven feet. The plant requires regular pruning to manage airflow and prevent mold or mildew. Indoors, it typically flowers in eight to nine weeks, while outdoor crops reach maturity in late October. In ideal conditions, it produces at least 14 ounces per plant.
