Pennywise

Pennywise is a hybrid strain developed by TGA Genetics following a multi-year research and development project aimed at creating a high-CBD cultivar. The strain was created by crossing a female Harlequin with a male Jack the Ripper. The project began in 2007, utilizing a rare Harlequin cutting sourced from breeder Chef Joel of Norstar Genetics, who reportedly retains the same cutting today.

According to TGA co-founder Subcool, the objective for the strain was to achieve a consistent 1:1 ratio of THC to CBD. While the strain averages between 12-15% CBD, the most popular phenotype typically tests at 11% THC and 11% CBD. TGA identifies four distinct phenotypes for Pennywise, which are reported to express varying aromatic profiles including coffee, lemon, and bubblegum. These phenotypes are said to combine the relaxing, therapeutic effects of Harlequin with the invigorating characteristics of Jack the Ripper. Current seed production by TGA utilizes a Jack the Ripper male noted for high THC-V content.
