THE DISPENSE STRAIN GUIDE

Petrolia

hybrid

Petrolia, also known as Petrolia Headstash, is a long-standing Afghan indica selection established in Humboldt County prior to the Soviet-Afghan War, valued for its resin production and utility as a foundational breeding component.

About Petrolia

Petrolia is a classic Afghan indica with a history in Humboldt County dating back to the pre-Soviet era. While Charles Scott of Reeferman Seeds is associated with the strain, its reputation was established earlier through old-world Afghan genetics that were brought to the region and refined over generations. It is not a product of modern marketing, but rather a strain valued for its consistency and reliability.

As a breeding tool, Petrolia is recognized for its high resin production. It has been utilized to develop heavy-hitting varieties like Herijuana and to improve the structural integrity of various other crosses. In breeder circles, it is often cited as a strain that enhances the qualities of the varieties it is crossed with.

The strain is characterized by a traditional hash-like aroma, featuring a terpene profile of myrcene, caryophyllene, and pinene that presents as wood, musk, and spice. The flavor is described as earthy and pine-forward, lacking the sweet or dessert-like profiles common in many modern hybrids. Reported effects are typically heavy and sedative, often described as a potent end-of-day experience that induces muscle relaxation and significant lethargy.
