Querkle
Querkle is a hybrid strain developed by TGA Genetics, created to capture the signature grape profile of the Purple Urkle clone while enhancing growth speed and vigor through a cross with Space Queen.
About Querkle
TGA Genetics co-founder Subcool spent approximately a decade refining Querkle in an Oregon indoor grow space. The project began after Subcool acquired a specific Purple Urkle clone from a grower named Sticky Lungs. His objective was to stabilize a purple-leaning indica hybrid that could serve as a foundation for future breeding projects, specifically aiming to replicate the mother's signature grape flavor while addressing the slow growth characteristics often associated with purple varieties.
By crossing a female Purple Urkle cut with a Space Queen male, the breeder successfully accelerated the growth cycle. Out of five initial phenotypes, TGA selected two for their medium-to-heavy yields, potent lemon aromatics, and the desired grape-forward flavor profile. While Subcool initially worked with other purple clones—including Mendocino Purps, GDP, and Purple Skunk—he ultimately preferred the Purple Urkle cut for this project. The strain was originally bred and grown indoors, though it has since been tested in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Plant characteristics
The plant exhibits a short stature and produces spear-shaped colas adorned with long, orange pistils. It features a rapid growth cycle with a flowering time of approximately 56 days.
