About Strawberry Diesel

Strawberry Diesel is a name collision involving two genuinely different Diesel parents, leading to long-standing debate over which version is the "real" one. The original, attributed to Reservoir Seeds, was created by crossing Kyle Kushman's Strawberry Cough clone with selected Sour Diesel males in a limited seed release. Because this line became difficult to find, other breeders revisited the genetics: Top Dawg Seeds recreated the formula using Sour Diesel BX3, while Fractal Genetics, Ganesh, and Dark Horse Genetics have worked subsequent generations or reproductions.

A second, genetically distinct version is offered by Lineage Genetics and Holy Smoke Seeds, which crosses NYC Diesel with Strawberry Cough. While this version appears frequently in modern listings, it is distinct from the Reservoir original due to the use of NYC Diesel rather than Sour Diesel.

Despite the differing parentage, both versions share a similar flavor profile. Ripe strawberry and sweet berry notes transition into diesel fuel, earth, and pungent funk, often finished with citrus and peppery spice. The strawberry can be fresh and sugary, but is balanced by heavy fuel notes. Reported experiences include an upbeat, clear-headed lift with an energetic, creative streak and enough relaxation to smooth the edges without killing momentum. Because the genetics differ, the specific lineage is the primary indicator of the plant's identity.

Plant characteristics

The Reservoir Seeds original flowers in approximately 65 days and grows tall with a vine-like structure that benefits from topping and training. The Lineage Genetics cross has a flowering period of 63–70 days, with reported indoor yields of 600–700 g/m²; it performs best in warm climates, with northern-latitude outdoor harvests occurring as late as October. The Holy Smoke Seeds version is reported to finish in approximately 56 days with high yields.
