Purple Berry
Purple Berry is a hybrid strain name that refers to two distinct genetic lineages, both characterized by purple-hued flowers and prominent blueberry-forward terpene profiles.
About Purple Berry
Purple Berry, also known as Blueberry Purp, represents two separate breeding paths that share a common name and aesthetic. The traditional version is a cross of Granddaddy Purple and Blueberry. This lineage traces back to the late 1970s, utilizing DJ Short’s Blueberry and Ken Estes’ Granddaddy Purple, which itself is a combination of Mendo Purps, Skunk, and Afghani. This classic cut is noted for a nutty, sweet blueberry flavor and a heavy body-focused effect that retains a degree of mental clarity.
The second iteration is a complex multi-cross from Wonderbrett in Los Angeles. This version involves crossing Beyond Blueberry v1 with OZ Kush Cookies & Cream to create a Blueberry OZ Kush (BZK) hybrid, which was then crossed with a GDP male. This selection is reported to produce dense, trichome-heavy buds with a flavor profile reminiscent of cookie dough, ripe blueberries, and grapes, typically resulting in a more sedative, couch-locking experience compared to the classic cross.
Plant characteristics
The plant typically exhibits a short stature. The flowers are visually distinct, displaying silver-purple hues, while the foliage presents a mix of emerald and indigo tones.
